Kris Satkunas to be Inducted as Fellow to COLPM

As they say, it’s not news until someone announces it—Please join us in congratulating our very own, Kris Satkunas, director of strategic counseling for LexisNexis Counsellink, who will be inducted as a Fellow to the College of Law Practice Management (COLPM) during the organization’s upcoming 2016 Futures Conference: Law Practice 2026 taking place on September 15-16, 2016.

Each year, Fellows of the COLPM are nominated by their peers, based on criteria described in the College by-laws, and elected by the College Board of Trustees. According to the COLPM:

“Fellows of the College are distinguished law practice management professionals who represent law firms, educational institutions, professional associations and other organizations that contribute to excellence in law practice management.”

As Director of Strategic Consulting for the Counsellink business for nearly two decades, Ms. Satkunas regularly advises corporate legal departments on how they can improve operations in the legal department by making data-driven decisions. As an expert in managing the “business aspects of the law” and mining data, she also regularly counsels clients in the areas of: matter pricing and staffing, partner compensation as well as practice area metrics and scorecards. In addition to serving in this capacity, she writes numerous articles on this subject matter and speaks frequently about these issues. Prior to joining LexisNexis in 2000, she served as President of Strategic Finance at SunTrust Bank, where she honed her financial management skills.

Ms. Satkunas will be inducted as a Fellow to the COLPM during next week’s Futures Conference along with 13 other professionals during an Induction Ceremony & Dinner on Friday, September 16, 2016. As a Fellow, Ms. Satkunas will join an impressive roster of existing COLPM Fellows, including legal industry thought leaders:

• Robert J. Ambrogi, attorney and author of the Lawsites Blog
• James Calloway, director of Management Assistance Programs for the Oklahoma Bar Association and author of the Law Practice Tips Blog

The event, presented by the College of Law Practice Management (COLPM) in partnership with the University of Missouri-Kansas City aims to provide attendees with insight to help answer “What law will look like in 2026?” The conference will include five interactive panel sessions where leading experts will share their best predictions to answer some of the legal professions most burning questions, such as:

• Will the billable hour finally be dead?
• Will computers replace lawyers?
• What will law schools look like?
• What will digital marketing look like?
